Painter at Sea

I was in Silvi, Pescara, and I was preparing to go home with my friend when I saw this girl getting ready to paint the sea in which I had just been swimming. I made my friends go home and asked her if my presence with the camera would be a problem for her. She smiled and answered that no, it wouldn't be, and she started painting.
I enjoyed watching her for some time and a woman asked me whether she painted portraits, thinking we knew each other.
After some photographs I had to go back home for supper, but we said good luck and I left her the blog link.

Ero a Silvi, Pescara, e stavo per tornare a casa con i miei amici quando ho visto questa ragazza prepararsi a dipingere il mare in cui avevo appena fatto il bagno. Ho mandato i miei amici a casa e le ho chiesto se le avrebbe dato fastidio la mia presenza con la macchina fotografica. Mi ha risposto di no sorridendo, e ha cominciato a dipingere.
Mi sono divertita a guardarla per un po', e una signora mi ha pure avvicinata per chiedermi se la ragazza dipingeva ritratti, pensando che ci conoscessimo.
Dopo un po' di foto sono dovuta tornare a casa, perché era ora di cena, ma ci siamo augurate buona fortuna a vicenda e le ho lasciato l'indirizzo del blog.

I chose this quote because these images give me a sense of calmness, of a place out of time where you can stay to get away from every day life, and this is exactly how I felt when I was there. However, it is also possible that the feelings brought up by these photographs are different in other people (provided that they do bring up feelings), but I see it this way. In fact my father, as if to confirm the tranquility of the house, fell asleep and lost any sense of time.

Ho scelto questa citazione perché queste immagini mi danno un senso di tranquillità, di un luogo fuori dal tempo in cui stare per staccare un po' dalla vita di tutti i giorni, ed è esattamente come mi sentivo quando ero li.  Poi può anche essere che le emozioni che queste foto suscitano in altre persone (sempre che suscitino emozioni) siano diverse da quelle che provo io, però io la vedo così.
Tant'è che mio padre, giusto per confermare la calma di quella casa, si è addormentato e senza rendersene conto ha perso il senso del tempo. 

Together with the wonderful garden, there were three beautiful dogs. This one down here is Lupa, one of the three, 8 months old. She laid down beside me when I sat on the grass, and stayed there until I got up. She was sweet, even though she let the small dog (15 years old) chase her.

Oltre al bellissimo giardino, c'erano anche tre cani stupendi. Questa qui sotto è Lupa, una delle tre, di 8 mesi. Si è stesa vicino a me quando mi sono seduta sul prato, ed è stata li accanto finché non mi sono alzata. Era un cane molto dolce, anche se si faceva rincorrere dalla cagnetta di 15 anni, alta quanto una sua gamba.

Last but not least, this photograph I am particularly proud of, since I didn't expect it. There were some swallows flying above the pool, so I sat there some minutes hoping to catch one. And here it is! I managed to capture some other swallows, but this is the one that came out better.

Ultima ma non meno importante. sono particolarmente orgogliosa di questa foto, anche perché non me l'aspettavo. C'erano delle rondini che volavano sulla piscina, quindi mi sono seduta qualche minuto sul bordo nella speranza di catturarne qualcuna. Ed eccola qui! Sono riuscita a fotografare altre rondini, ma questa è quella venuta meglio.

Ute Lemper per Villa Adriana

Some time ago, on the 1st July, my father took me to Villa Adriana to listen to Ute Lemper, a dutch singer. I have to say that I have been positively impressed, I had never even heard of her (my fault), but she was really fantastic. Her voice is beautiful, and on stage she easily managed to entertain the audience. I enjoyed all the two hours, even though it wasn't my genre of music. 

Poco tempo fa, il 1° Luglio, mio padre mi ha portata a Villa Adriana a vedere il concerto di Ute Lemper, una cantante tedesca. Devo dire che sono rimasta piacevolmente impressionata, non l'avevo mai sentita neanche nominare (mea culpa), ma è stata veramente bravissima. Ha una voce bellissima, e sul palco è riuscita con facilità a intrattenere il pubblico. Ho apprezzato molto tutte le due ore di concerto, nonostante non fosse il genere di musica che ascolto di solito.  

She sang accompanied by the Contemporanea Ensemble, which was  directed by Tonino Battista. He created a show himself while directing, and with Ute they were wonderful. At one point, the clarinettist (if I remember right) couldn't find a sheet of paper, which was necessary on the following song. She began to improvise with the help of the band, until the musician found his piece of paper. They were great, everybody loved them. 

Ha cantato con l'accompagnamento di Contemporanea Ensemble, diretta da Tonino Battista. Dirigendo era uno spettacolo a sé, e lui e Ute insieme erano fantastici. A un certo punto il clarinettista non trovava uno spartito indispensabile per la canzone successiva. Lei ha cominciato ad improvvisare con l'aiuto della banda, finché il musicista non ha trovato il suo foglio. Sono stati fantastici, li hanno adorati tutti.

When a friend invited me to take pictures at her dance recital, I didn't expect that it would be so beautiful, and I certainly didn't think that the photographs would come out so well. This classic dance bit was probably the favourite one: on a tango these four girls became the four seasons with incredible lightness and skill. Everybody's compliments go to them and to the choreographer, obviously.

Quando un'amica mi ha invitata a fare foto al suo saggio di danza, non mi aspettavo che fosse così bello, e di certo non pensavo che le foto sarebbero venute fuori così bene. Questo loro pezzo di danza classica è stato sicuramente quello preferito da tutti: sulle note di un tango le quattro ragazze sono diventate quattro stagioni con una leggerezza e una bravura incredibili. I miei complimenti, e quelli di tutti, vanno a loro e alla coreografa, naturalmente.

As for Romeo and Juliet's show, I had to use the manual focus, but at least I got to choose where to sit, in order to find the best position without disturbing. I have to admit I am very satisfied with the result. I posted the separate photographs of the dancers on the Facebook page.

Come per lo spettacolo di Romeo e Giulietta, ho dovuto usare la messa a fuoco manuale, ma almeno ho potuto scegliere dove sedermi, per cercare la migliore inquadratura senza disturbare. Devo ammettere che sono molto soddisfatta del risultato. Sulla pagina di Facebook pubblicherò anche le foto singole per ogni ballerina.

I love cats. It is still unsettled whether I love more cats or dogs, but either way, I love cats. The pictures of this post have all been taken in different times and places: some are friends' cats, some others I found in a public park or in a small town. I believe they are all beautiful, even though they may not seem so in the photographs.
I don't think there is anything more to say about it.

Amo i gatti. Non è ancora chiaro se amo più i gatti o i cani, ma in entrambe i casi, amo i gatti.
Le foto di questo post sono state tutte scattate in luoghi e tempi diversi: alcuni sono i gatti di amici, altri li ho trovati in un parco o in un paesino. Penso che siano tutti belli, nonostante possano non sembrarlo dalle foto. 
Non penso ci sia molto altro da dire a riguardo.

 Together with the goods, I enjoyed taking pictures of some of the materials Teresa uses to make packages. She is famous for the delicate rice paper wrappings and lanyards, their colours and their originality, which enchant me every time for their beauty.

Insieme agli articoli in vendita, mi sono divertita a catturare alcuni dei materiali usati da Teresa per fare i pacchetti. La proprietaria è famosa per le delicate confezioni fatte di carta di riso e cordini, colorate e originali, che mi stupiscono ogni volta per la loro bellezza.
