These are some more shots from the holiday in Trentino, eventhough the place is not so relevant. We met this cat while having a walk, and we stopped some time to cuddle him. Well, there's not much to say. I tried sepia for the first time, the results are nice photographs, but nothing spectacular. I havo to exercise more with cats, they're adorable!

Queste sono altre foto della vacanza in Trentino, anche se il luogo non mi sembra molto rilevante. Abbiamo incontrato questo gatto facendo una passeggiata, e ci siamo fermati un po' a coccolarlo. Bè, non c'è molto da dire. Ho provato per la prima volta a scattare con il seppia, il risultato sono foto carine ma non particolarmente belle. Devo esercitarmi di più con i gatti, sono adorabili!

And here are more shots from Trentino. It's the first time I have the occasion to take some photographs during an important sporting event. I tried to follow my photographic book's counsels: to sit in a spot on the river bank, to try and capture the participant's expressions... I sat on a rock, at some metre from where the canoes went.

Ed ecco altre foto della vacanza in Trentino. E' la prima volta che mi si presenta l'occasione di fare foto durante un evento sportivo, per di più uno così importante. Ho cercato di seguire i consigli del mio manuale di fotografia: posizionarsi in un punto sulla sponda del fiume, cercare di cogliere le espressioni dei partecipanti. Mi sono seduta su una roccia, a qualche metro di distanza da dove passavano le canoe. 

Family Portraits

C'è un motivo per cui le persone sono il soggetto più fotografato in assoluto. I nostri innumerevoli stati d'animo, i colori, le forme e i singoli modi di esprimere le nostre personalità ci rendono protagonisti complessi e affascinanti.

Digital Camera

This last part of my summer holidays, in Trentino, with some friends, has revealed itself to be an occasion to experience the technique of what is called 'informal portrait'. Let's say it's the one I prefer and enjoy the most, although I'm far from being an expert and have had little occasions to experiment. I had time to try, attempting to capture the (rare) affection moments between brothers and the play ones, and I am quite satisfied of what came out of it. The use of black and white wasn't casual, I followed an important italian photographer's counsel, Gardin: "Colour distracts the photographer and those who watch".

Queste ultime vacanze estive, in Trentino, insieme a degli amici, si sono rivelate un'occasione per sperimentare la tecnica di quello che viene definito 'ritratto informale'. Diciamo che è il campo della fotografia che mi entusiasma di più, nonostante io non sia affatto un'esperta in materia e abbia avuto poche occasioni per provare a fare questo tipo di foto. Ho fatto un po' di prove, cercando di immortalare sia i (rari) momenti di affetto tra fratelli, che quelli di gioco e divertimento, e posso dire di essere abbastanza soddisfatta del risultato. La scelta del bianco e nero non è stata casuale, ho seguito il consiglio di Gardin, importante fotografo italiano: "Il colore distrae il fotografo e chi guarda". 

I liked the way both my friend offered themselves as "informal subjects", helping and listening to me. Actually, it was them who opened the rainbow umbrella and started playing with it. In this photograph colours are obviously quite important.

Mi è piaciuto il modo in cui entrambe i miei amici si sono offerti di interpretare la parte di "soggetti informali", aiutandomi e ascoltandomi. A dir la verità, sono loro che hanno aperto l'ombrello arcobaleno e hanno cominciato a giocarci. Ovviamente in questa foto, diversamente dalle altre, i colori sono importanti.

Black 'n White

And here we are again in Palmi, with the Olive rock and a guy canooing nearby.

Ed eccoci qua di nuovo allo scoglio dell'ulivo, a Palmi, stavolta in bianco e nero, e con una canoa vicino.

The motorbike the kid is looking at is my father's, and I'm quite proud of it. Who wouldn't be? This child doubtfully liked it.

La moto che il bambino sta guardando è quella di mio padre, e ne sono particolarmente orgogliosa. Chi non lo sarebbe? Al bambino piaceva sicuramente.

These three crosses are on Mout Saint Elijah, and the town you can see on the right is actually Palmi, with the sea in front of it. This place is fantastic.

Queste tre croci sono sul Monte Sant'Elia, e la cirrà che si scorge sulla destra è proprio Palmi, con il mare davanti. Questo posto è fantastico.

This little black cat was watching me, so I took a picture of him. Miao.

Questo piccolo gattino nero mi stava guardando, quindi gli ho fatto una foto. Miao. 

Children Hugs

Finally, I found a way to post these pictures! It was quite difficult, considering even now I'm connected to my phone's (instable) wifi.
Well. These are some of the photographs I took some weeks ago in Silvi, Abruzzo. Me and my friends spent the time watching this group of girls for a while. While the youngest one ran from the umbrella to the sea, the other two hugged each other and walked hand in hand around the beach. Toghether, they were quite amusing. I leave comments to you, even though these shots are nothing special. Let me know what you think about them!

Finalmente sono riuscita a pubblicare queste foto! E' stata un pò un'impresa, considerando che anche adesso sono collegata alla rete (instabile) del mio telefono.
Allora. Queste sono alcune delle foto scattate un paio di settimane fa a Silvi, in Abruzzo. Come avrete notato, ho preso di mira questo gruppetto di bambine, che io e i miei amici ci siamo divertiti ad osservare per un pò. Mentre la più piccola (terza foto) faceva avanti e indietro fra l'ombrellone e il mare, le altre due, che sembrano avere la stessa età, si scambiavano gesti di affetto girando per la spiaggia. Lascio a voi i commenti, anche se questi scatti non sono niente di particolare. Fatemi sapere che ne pensate!

The Olive Rock

And here are the photographs I was talking about when I posted the other sea pictures. Let's say they're those, among all my shots, I prefer, maybe beacuse I saw them printed and I really like them. I was in Palmi, Reggio Calabria, in August 2012. It was the first day of the year with rough sea, so I decided that bringing my Nikon would not be a bad idea; I'd say it's been useful! If you have some nice sea photos you've taken, post them in the comments or leave a link!

Ed ecco qui, queste sono le foto di cui parlavo quando ho pubblicato le altre immagini del mare. Diciamo che sono quelle che, fra tutti i miei scatti, preferisco in assoluto, forse perchè le ho viste stampate e mi piacciono un sacco. Ero a Palmi, un paese in provincia di Reggio Calabria, nell'Agosto 2012. Era la prima giornata dell'anno in cui c'era il mare mosso, mi sembra, quindi ho deciso che magari portare la Nikon non sarebbe stata proprio una cattiva idea; direi che è servita! In these two photographs there's the "Rock of the Olive", because of the olive tree that's been growing up there. It's also known for the hole in that it has in the middle. If you go there in the right period of the year, it could be perfect for sunset pictures.

In queste due foto, lo scoglio che vedete si chiama "Scoglio dell'Ulivo", proprio per via dell'albero di ulivo che è cresciuto la sopra. Oltre che per questo, è caratterizzato anche dal buco al centro. Se si va nel giusto periodo dell'anno, può essere perfetto per le foto al tramonto. 

The Wall

When I took these pictures, again in August 2012, I was safely reading a book on my balcony. I looked up and saw this wonderful sunset and told myself I couldn't ignore it, so since from my house you can admire a stupid light pole in the way, I just ran out of the door with my Nikon in hand, climbed up a wall and took these shots. The only one I like is this one up here, whith the trees underneath. Which one do you prefer? If you like them, obviously.

Quando ho fatto queste foto, di nuovo nell'Agosto 2012, Stavo tranquillamente leggendo un libro sul balcone. Ho alzato lo sguardo, ho visto questo stupendo tramonto e ho deciso che non lo potevo ignorare, quindi visto che da casa mia la vista è rovinata da un palo della luce in mezzo, sono corsa fuori di casa prima che il sole tramontasse completamente e mi sono arrampicata su un muro con la Nikon in mano. L'unica che mi piace è questa qua sopra, con gli alberi in basso. Quale preferite? Sempre che vi piacciono, ovviamente.
