Indiana State Fare - A Time to Celebrate!

And here I am posting from Indiana, where I will spend the next six months, at least.
I know it took me a while to post this, and it's because I couldn't make up my mind on which photographs to put, but I noticed that the visits on the blog have risen a lot!
Anyway, a couple of Sundays ago I went to the State Fare, in Indianapolis, with my host family. What an experience!
The Fare is there every year, and every year there are people they sell their products, show their works, or dress up in 1900 clothes to make everyone live some moments in the life of one hundred years ago. At supper time (about 6 pm), all the farmers sat together at a table and ate a meal cooked by the ladies in the picture down here, with the initial payer too.

So che ci ho messo molto a pubblicare questo post, ed è perché non riuscivo a decidere quali foto pubblicare, ma ho notato che le visite nel blog sono decisamente aumentate!
Comunque, qualche domenica fa sono andata alla Fiera di stato dell'Indiana, a Indianapolis, insieme alla famiglia che mi ospiterà in questo periodo. Che esperienza! La Fiera si ripete ogni anno, e ogni anno ci sono persone che vendono i loro prodotti, espongono le loro opere, o si vestono in abiti novecenteschi per far vivere a tutti qualche momento nella vita di un secolo fa. A ora di cena (le 18, circa), tutti i contadini si sono seduti al tavolo e hanno mangiato un pasto cucinato dalle ladies nella foto qui sotto, con tanto di preghiera prima di iniziare.

What fascinated me most about the Pioneer Village were the wood-working men. In particular, a man was burning wood (I don't know the instrument's name), and drawing very detailed images of the fare. I like the picture that came out of it, because of his hands and because of the state fare symbol.

Quello che mi ha affascinato di più nel Pioneer Village (Villaggio dei Pionieri) sono stati gli uomini che lavoravano il legno. In particolare, un signore stava pirografando una panca con immagini della fiera dettagliatissime (foto sopra), e la foto che è venuta fuori mi piace, anche perché c'è la scritta ufficiale della fiera (A Time to Celebrate!).

Another thing we did during the fare was going to a Monster Truck show. I am not very into it, but my new colombian brother apparently is. I would never have imagined all that noise!! Many kids wore earphones to protect their ears, but I had fun taking pictures of the ones who didn't. My favourite among these is the last one, with the little girl covering her ears with a Monster Truck out of focus in the back.

Un'altra cosa che abbiamo fatto alla fiera è stato andare a vedere uno spettacolo di Monster Truck, di cui io non sono molto appassionata, a differenza del mio fratello colombiano. Non mi sarei mai aspettata tutto quel rumore!! Molti bambini indossavano delle cuffie per proteggere le orecchie, ma mi sono divertita a prendere quelli senza. La mia preferita tra queste è l'ultima, con una bambina che si tappa le orecchie e un Monster Truck messo un po' fuori fuoco sullo sfondo.

This week I went out with a friend, Valeria (which happens to be the girl in some of the pictures), with whom I walked around Villa Borghese and the centre of Rome while waiting for Romeo and Juliet, at the Globe Theatre, to begin. It was a goodbye day, since I'm going to America for the next six or ten months, so we spent the time talking and making plans for when I come back. Among other things, we decided to create a "Humans of Rome" page, like Humans of New York. We were quite exited about it, and we still are, I just can't wait to start!
These are the pictures I took while walking with her, and I am quite happy with them.

Questa settimana sono uscita con un'amica, Valeria (la ragazza in alcune delle foto), con cui ho fatto un giro per Villa Borghese e per il centro di Roma in attesa dello spettacolo di Romeo e Giulietta al Globe. Era il giorno per salutarsi, visto che io vado in America per i prossimi sei o dieci mesi, quindi abbiamo passato il tempo facendo piani per quando torno. Tra le altre cose, abbiamo deciso di creare una pagina "Humans of Rome", come Humans of New York. Siamo ancora molto entusiaste all'idea di cominciare!
Queste sono le foto che ho fatto mentre passeggiavamo, e evo dire che sono abbastanza soddisfatta.

I have to compliment myself with this man, because I admire his passion and will. The photos of him are among the ones I prefer. This one down here, in particular, looks as if it was painted on the left side. I have no idea how I did this, but I like it.

Devo assolutamente complimentarmi con questo signore, perché ammiro molto la sua determinazione e la sua passione. Le foto fatte a lui sono fra quelle che preferisco. Quella qui sotto, in particolare, sembra quasi dipinta nella parte sinistra. Non ho idea di come abbia fatto, ma mi piace molto.

Children Hugs

Finally, I found a way to post these pictures! It was quite difficult, considering even now I'm connected to my phone's (instable) wifi.
Well. These are some of the photographs I took some weeks ago in Silvi, Abruzzo. Me and my friends spent the time watching this group of girls for a while. While the youngest one ran from the umbrella to the sea, the other two hugged each other and walked hand in hand around the beach. Toghether, they were quite amusing. I leave comments to you, even though these shots are nothing special. Let me know what you think about them!

Finalmente sono riuscita a pubblicare queste foto! E' stata un pò un'impresa, considerando che anche adesso sono collegata alla rete (instabile) del mio telefono.
Allora. Queste sono alcune delle foto scattate un paio di settimane fa a Silvi, in Abruzzo. Come avrete notato, ho preso di mira questo gruppetto di bambine, che io e i miei amici ci siamo divertiti ad osservare per un pò. Mentre la più piccola (terza foto) faceva avanti e indietro fra l'ombrellone e il mare, le altre due, che sembrano avere la stessa età, si scambiavano gesti di affetto girando per la spiaggia.
