Ships in the Dark

Only the ship is made of books, its sails thousand of overlapping pages, and the sea it floats upon is dark black ink.

What do I do when I have no homework and I can't go out? Well, I obviously take pictures. It has been a while since I had the chance to go out with my camera, so I just decided to try something inside. I wanted a black background (which didn't really come out in the second picture), so I turned off all the lights and lit up a tiny bed light. It actually went quite well, the photos aren't spectacular but I'm okay with the results.
The idea to use these miniature ships as subjects came my mother put one on the table to clean the dust. I love miniature ship, I'm happy I finally found the chance to photograph them.

Cosa faccio quando non ho compiti e non posso uscire? Faccio foto, ovviamente. E' passato un po' di tempo dall'ultima volta che sono riuscita ad uscire con la macchina fotografica, quindi ho deciso di provare qualcosa all'interno. Volevo uno sfondo nero (che non è molto venuto nella seconda foto), quindi ho spento tutte le luci e ne ho accesa una piccola, di quelle per leggere la sera. E' andata anche abbastanza bene, le foto non sono spettacolari ma i risultati mi vanno bene. 
L'idea di usare queste barchette in miniatura come soggetti mi è venuta quando mia madre ne ha messa una sul tavolo per pulirla dalla polvere. Adoro le barchette in miniatura, sono felice di aver finalmente trovato l'occasione di fotografarle.

I know a lot of time has passed since the last post, but I have had some problems in uploading the pictures and, moreover, I haven't had much time this month.
However, some months ago I had managed to convince my mother to bring me to Venice during Carnival, so there we were two weekends ago, me under the rain taking pictures, she following me with our umbrella (poor mum). Although there weren't many masks because of the terrible weather, we saw some that were worth the try. These are the results, quite nice actually. My favourite picture among these is the one of the girl in blue, while I think the best mask was the one in the last picture.

So che è passato molto tempo dall'ultimo post, ma ho avuto un po' di problemi nel caricare le foto e, soprattutto, non ho avuto molto tempo questo mese.
Comunque, qualche tempo fa ero riuscita a convincere mia madre a portarmi a Venezia durante il Carnevale, quindi per questo eravamo li qualche weekend fa, io a fare foto sotto la pioggia, lei a seguirmi con l'ombrello (povera mamma). Nonostante non ci fossero molte maschere visto il clima terribile, ne abbiamo viste alcune che valeva la pena fotografare. Questi sono i risultati, anche abbastanza carini. La mia foto preferita fra queste è la prima, quella della ragazza in blu, mentre penso che la maschera più bella fosse quella nell'ultima foto.

I have to say that some were also quite creepy (the ones up here, for example), but they were all really beautiful. I bought a small blue mask myself, made in Venice, obviously.

Devo dire che alcune erano abbastanza inquietanti (quelle qui sopra, per esempio), ma erano tutte veramente belle. Ho comprato una piccola maschera blu anch'io, fatta a Venezia, ovviamente.
